Begin your journey with your arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station. Drive towards Majuli, the world’s largest river island, located on the Brahmaputra River (approx. 350 km, 7-8 hours). Upon arrival, take a ferry ride across the Brahmaputra to reach the island. Explore the serene landscapes, visit the traditional Assamese villages, and immerse yourself in the unique culture of the island. Check in to a traditional guesthouse or eco-resort. Enjoy a peaceful evening and an overnight stay in Majuli.
After breakfast, spend the morning exploring Majuli’s cultural and spiritual heritage. Visit the Vaishnavite Satras, including Auniati Satra and Garmur Satra, known for their traditional art, dance, and religious significance. Interact with locals to understand their lifestyle and craftsmanship, such as pottery and mask-making. Post-lunch, take the ferry back to the mainland and drive to Jorhat (approx. 35 km, 1 hour). Check in to your hotel in Jorhat and relax. Overnight stay in Jorhat.
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Guwahati (approx. 310 km, 6-7 hours). En route, you may choose to visit a tea estate near Jorhat to learn about Assam’s famous tea culture. Upon reaching Guwahati, transfer to the airport or railway station for your onward journey, concluding your memorable tour of Majuli and Jorhat.
